and this underscores the fact that there is a tremendous need to attract new players.
Because investment in equipment and lessons frequently discourages individuals from pursuing steel guitar,
The Connect, Inc. has created an initiative called the
Jump Start Academy (
JSA)
with the primary purpose of expanding the number of people playing steel guitar regardless of age.
During the annual
Northeast Iowa Steel Guitar Show, the JSA awards selected candidate(s) a
scholarship that provides a steel guitar and lessons free for one year (instructor/mentors volunteer their services).
At the end of the year, JSA graduates are given a wonderful opportunity to perform at the
Northeast Iowa Steel Guitar Show!
